ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. She was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan was multisport in her youth, but she first discovered soccer at 14. Morgan was a member of the Cypress Elite club team and was awarded the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. Morgan also finished third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued her education at Diamond Bar High School, where she improved her soccer skills. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) picked Morgan as an All-American Athlete. She also played for states and regional divisions of the Olympic Development Program (ODP). Morgan advanced her soccer skills at UC Berkeley, where she was the leader of the California Golden Bears team in scoring from the very beginning of the season. The team was able to reach the NCAA Tournament in four years and also to the second round twice. Morgan was among four finalist for the Honda Sports Award and the first player from her school to top the charts of Hermann Trophy finalists. Morgan was a graduate in 2010 and had the third highest amount of points and goals for Berkeley. Morgan was a soccer player at the collegiate and national level throughout her college. Morgan was injured to her ACL in her very first year as a Berkeley player. She was not able to play with the U.S. Under-20 Women's Soccer team until April of 2008. She scored her first international goal in Mexico at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a participant at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals and earned her team a gold medal. One of those goals was a win against Italy that earned the U.S. team the final place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest member of the team and he led the U.S. team to victory over France. Though the U.S. ultimately lost to Japan, Morgan became the first ever player to score both a goal and an assist in the final World Cup game.
