Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a ex-chef of the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. She is the host of the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and is co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her signature spiky blond hair and pumped-up personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of food in restaurants and shares simple, easy-to-master recipes to cook at home on her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell had a job at the top New York restaurants and studied the Italian culinary traditions and surroundings. Also, she was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. While growing up in the upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for culinary arts and food at very young. After earning an English as well as Communications degree from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her interest in the restaurant business by enrolling in The Culinary Institute of America. The student says "I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I loved every minute of it." I was unable to learn enough, didn't do enough couldn't work hard enough. Chef Burrell, after graduating from The Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Italy was employed for a year in Umbria at La Taverna del Lupo and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, an Michelin-starred establishment. Her time spent in Italy made her more aware and appreciate Italian style of living and the culture and has made an impact on her food and culinary experience. Burrell was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which aims to enrich the lives of kids facing obstacles. She is also a Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity Ambassador which promotes education about juvenile diabetes. Her travels are frequent across the country as a mentor and guest speaker where she discusses her professional life and the joy of cooking. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne has always said I feel so lucky to be able be able to share the passion I have for life with people.
