Alexandra Rose Raisman Bio

Alexandra Rose Raisman, born May 25, 1994 was an American retired gymnast who was an artistic. She is also twice an Olympian. She was the leader of the 2012 "Fierce Five" and the in 2016 the "Final Five,"" U.S. women’s Olympic gymnastics team. She was awarded a gold team medal during the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Gabby Douglas and Raisman are the only Americans who have won back-to-back gold medals at this event. Raisman was awarded silver medals in the all-around individual and floor exercise. Raisman also took home silver medals for the individual all-around as well as for floor exercise. She also is two-time national champion in floor exercises (2012 and 2015) as well as the 2012 champion of the national championship in balance beam. She also is five times a national champion in all-around competitions at national championships (silver bronze, silver 2011, 2012 and 2012 and). Inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Raisman was born on May 25, 1994 in Needham, Massachusetts to Lynn Faber (nee Faber), who was a former high school gymnast, and Rick Raisman. She has three children, Madison, Chloe and Brett. Raisman who is Jewish has said that she is very proud in the fact that she is able to represent the United States of America but as well as the Jewish community across the globe. Raisman began gymnastics at 18 months old. She attributes her first passion for gymnastics to the "Magnificent Seven", a U.S. women's gymnastics team which won the gold medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics. She took classes at Exxcel Gymnastics and Climbing until the level of 8. After that, she joined Brestyan's American Gymnastics Club with coaches Mihai and Silvia Brestyan. Raisman completed her studies at Needham High School in 2012. She finished her senior year online , while practicing for the Olympics.
